The Tolminka and Zadlaščica gorges

If anywhere, then it is at the sight of one of nature's pearls that we become aware of its magnificence – the gorges of the Tolminka and the Zadlaščica. The Tolminka rises in the Krn range and, across the moraine of a former glacier, forces its way into a tight, vertical rocky ravine, where it hollows out gorges around 200 metres long, 60 metres deep and only 5-10 metres wide.

The Devil's Bridge spans its gorge, and beneath it is a warm-water spring, unusual for the Julian Alps.

Near the source is Dante's Cave, as the former Zadlaška jama was named, since according to tradition the famous Italian poet Dante Alighieri sought inspiration for the Divine Comedy here.
