We begin the route in Idrija, past the primary school towards the old mining part of the town, from where along the right bank of the Idrijca it takes us to Mokraška vas, where we begin to climb towards Ledine. Along numerous hairpins, from where beautiful views of Spodnja Idrija and the interesting church of St Mary on the Rock open up, after 4 km of climbing we arrive at the Ledine junction, and then we continue the last part of the climb towards Ledine. After a good kilometre of climbing we reach the edge of the varied plateau and soon finish the route in the village.

The Holy Trinity, which is the oldest Idrija church, stands on the spot where, according to tradition, the legendary »tub-maker« first noticed native mercury in 1490. The original wooden little church was put up a decade later, as a document testifies, issued in Videm (Udine) on 22 August 1500. The presbytery is adorned by vividly coloured stained-glass windows by the academic painter Lojze Čemažar, who meaningfully combined biblical and Idrija themes. As eloquent symbols there also appear the ore, the miner's pick (drill) and the carbide lamp – the eternal light.

In Idrija you can see the Idrija Kamšt- a mine pumping device from 1790; the Klavže – water barriers in the valleys of the Idrijca, the Belca and the Kanomljica; the Frančiška Shaft, in which a viewing of old mine machines and devices is possible. You can visit the Idrija mine, that is, Antonijev rov, which is the oldest part of the Idrija mine and simulta­neously ranks among the oldest preserved entrances to a mine in the world. It was dug out already in 1500, only a decade after the discovery of native mercury.

The Idrija lace school is open to every visitor, where you can enrol in a bobbin lace course. The church of St Mary on Skalca is very interesting. Idrija offers many more cultural and natural sights, such as: the Vojščica partisan burial ground, the War Museum, Wild Lake, the Idrijca Landscape Park, Gewerkenegg Castle, the Town Hall from 1898, the Miner's House, …

In Spodnja Idrija there is the Kendov dvorec manor, which was built in 1377. The manor, where the owners of large surrounding estates once lived, has today been converted into a high-category hotel. Above the place, at a panoramic point, stands the church of the Assumption of Mary.

The climb from Idrija to Ledine, with a height difference of 465 m, is among the demanding routes.
