Are you feeling hot? At the 35°C forecast for this weekend it is hard to answer in the negative.
If you would like to cool off and are wondering whether to jump into salt or fresh water, we have dug out for you a few locations for a summer break. Since we champion the beauties of Slovenia, this time too the places and corners mentioned will be in Slovenia.
So let us begin:
1) The beach below the Strunjan cliff: It belongs to the protected area of the Strunjan reserve, so the water is really clean. Access to the beach is admittedly a little adrenaline-filled, since it is not possible to drive right up to it by car; instead a few minutes' walk along a forest path is needed, which then descends steeply. And yet - it is worth it. More difficult accessibility usually means a lower density of bathers. We recommend that you take a cool bag with a refreshing drink and a snack with you, since there is no catering establishment on the beach. And do take the emptied bottles and other waste with you. Nature will be grateful to you. You can leave your cars in the macadam car park below the hotel Svoboda.
2) The wild beach on the Seča peninsula: A little further on from the campsite in Lucija a beach stretches out which the locals call ˝wild˝. Access is possible from two directions - on foot through the Lucija campsite, or, if you drive by car to the Ribič restaurant and park there. We recommend the first option, since the car park at the Ribič restaurant (which is otherwise known for its tasty sea bass in salt) is always full and primarily intended for guests. What is the speciality of the wild beach? If you came to the Coast only in the afternoon, here you will get the last rays of sun when everywhere else there is already shade. The sea is clean too, and a fine view of the bay of Piran and Savudrija opens up. On the peninsula there is also a free outdoor gym, and nearby the world-famous Forma viva - a park of stone sculptures. On a windy day lovers of kiting gather here and it is quite pleasant to watch them. You will certainly not be bored on the wild beach.

3) The beach between Piran and Fiesa: Right below the bell tower of the church ofSt George in Pirana stony beach begins with a view of the Gulf of Trieste. The sea by the beach is exceptionally rich biologically, and its bed is said to hide also the remains of a road built in Roman times. Lovers of diving and ˝snorkelling˝ will get their money's worth here. Part of the beach is also intended for naturists - for those who are bothered even by swimwear on holiday.

4) The beach by Lake Bohinj: If you prefer to swim in fresh water, together with freshwater fish, Lake Bohinj is the right thing for you. The lake of glacial origin is a source of cold water, which means that a real refreshment awaits you even in summer. A pleasantly arranged beach is located inStara Fužina, at the foot ofVogarja. Access by car is possible right up to the arranged car park (which is, however, chargeable). If you want to see the lake in all its beauty, we recommend that you get up early and set off on foot to Vogar (you can go straight from Stara Fužina, 2 hours' walk). There, take refreshment with a stew or soured milk.
5) Bathing in the Kolpa or dipping (up to the knees) in the Soča: Slovenia is also rich in rivers that delight bathers and adrenaline enthusiasts. The Soča, the emerald river, will not leave you indifferent. Although the water is ice-cold all year round, the Soča is excellent for descents down wild waters with kayaks, canoes or a raft. Somewhat less adrenaline-filled but more suitable for bathing is the Kolpa, where the water warms up to 24°C in the lower part of the river and up to 22°C in the upper part. The upper part of the river is usually also the cleanest, since it is closer to the source. For bathing we therefore recommend the places Dol, Prelesje and Radenci ob Kolpi.
6) Bathing in the outdoor pool of the Šmarješke Toplice spa: For pool enthusiasts we recommend bathing in the outdoor pool of the Šmarješke Toplice spa in Dolenjska. Why precisely there? Because it is a wooden pool right above a thermal spring, whose healing water has been used since the 18th century. The water in such a pool is changed every few hours. Besides the wooden pool for soaking, a larger pool is also available, big enough for you to swim in. And when you get tired, off to the nearby refreshment room for a fresh lemonade and a salad.
