Maribor lies on the Drava, on its Lent grows the Old Vine, which in 2004 was entered in the Guinness Book of Records as the oldest grapevine in the world. Above the city stretches Pohorje, a wooded highland with well-kept ski slopes, cycling trails and mountain paths, which continues to Rogla above Zreče at around 1500 metres.
