The Municipality of Žužemberk lies in the central part of Suha krajina, along the upper course of the river Krka, which right below the castle creates the most picturesque tufa waterfalls. The rich cultural and historical heritage of these places is truly worth seeing: Žužemberk Castle, the church of St Nicholas, the remains of a Roman road, the restored blast furnace at Dvor, the remains of ‘Venetic’ settlements, mills, the remains of a paper mill and a tannery, Roman gravestones… Possibilities for spending free time actively are offered by numerous sporting activities, a ride by boat or by zapravljivček, fishing and hiking and cycling trails.
