The Walk of Peace links the heritage of the Isonzo Front with the natural sights the Upper Soča Valley. It is dedicated to the memory of the many victims of the First World War.
It leads past six open-air museums: Ravelnik, Čelo, Zaprikraj, Kolovrat, Mrzli vrh and Mengore. Along the route we see military cemeteries and chapels, the Kluže fortress, the gorges of the Soča, the Koritnica and the Tolminka, idyllic mountain pastures in the area of the Triglav National Park, the Kozjak waterfall, the ossuaries in Kobarid and Tolmin, the memorial church of the Holy Spirit in Javorca …
The Walk of Peace is waymarked and equipped with visitors' books, stamps and information boards. Its purpose is to present to the visitor the cultural and historical heritage, natural attractions and ethnological features. Most of these sights can be visited as interesting walking and cycling tours, which makes an active break in quiet, unspoilt nature possible.
GUIDED EXCURSIONS
The institution »The Walk of Peace in the Soča Region Foundation« runs guided trips along the Walk of Peace, in the open-air museums and at other sites of the Isonzo Front. Guided trips by prior arrangement take place all year round.
