In Atomska vas by the Olimje swimming pools we turn left onto the main road – caution will not be out of place. We ride past the Atomske toplice campsite and the Ciril guesthouse towards Sodna vas. We cross the bridge over the Mestinjščica and then turn at the signpost for Vonarje.
We ride along the main road towards Rogaška Slatina to the empty Sotla lake. We drive along the Vonarje valley on the shore of Sotla Lake. We come to the settlement of Mali Tabor. On the left side we see the settlements of Gornje and Donje Brezno. In this valley there were once farms, then the people were moved out , the houses demolished they made a dam and filled it with water. The opening of the dam was in 1978; after a few years they had to empty the dam , because the water was very polluted.
We are still riding along the main road and, if we look around us a little, we see churches on three hills: St Achatius, St Vitus and St Emma. At the signpost for Rogaška Slatina we end the route and return the same way. But we can also return along the Croatian side via the Harina Zlaka border crossing – let us not forget some kind of document.
