Štanjel is one of the oldest and most picturesque Karst settlements in the municipality of Komen, wrapped in terraces around the hill of Turn. The settlement links three units: the castle part with the Renaissance-Baroque castle, the church part with the late Gothic church of St Daniel, and the old village with rows of stone houses, narrow lanes and squares with wells.
The place was marked by the architect Maks Fabiani, who laid out the famous garden below the settlement with water features and views of the Karst. Štanjel is an imposing monument to the stone architecture and culture of the Karst. Browse the accommodation, taste the catering offer and choose among the activities in Štanjel and the Karst.
