Lendava is the easternmost town in Slovenia and the centre of the municipality of the same name. It lies below the Lendava hills by the river Ledava, in an ethnically mixed area right by the border with Hungary, which is why signs, schooling and public services are bilingual. Above the settlement stands Lendava Castle, which houses the museum; the town is also home to Terme Lendava, one of the Pannonian health spas.
