This is an attractive link between Litija and Ljubljana along the local road past Kresnice, Kresniške Poljane, Jevnica and Laze, which is routed beside the river Sava and the railway. We begin the route in Litija. If we arrive across the main bridge from the direction of Ljubljana, immediately after the bridge we turn right (to the left is the direction of Zagorje). We ride past the florist's (Vijolica), which we go round on the left-hand side, and continue the route to Podšentjur. Soon the route begins to climb slightly to Pogonik, where a fine view of the Sava valley and the railway bridge opens up to us. A descent follows. After 300 m we cross the railway and beside the Sava ride to Kresnice (2 km) with the church of St Benedict. We continue the route beside the Sava towards Kresniške Poljane with the church of the Sorrowful Mother of God. We keep to the main road, which brings us past Jevnica and Laze to the confluence of the Ljubljanica, the Sava and the Kamniška Bistrica at Podgrad.

Municipality Litija lies in the centre of Slovenia, east of Ljubljana. The town developed from a once important ferrymen's station on the river Sava, along which a lively trade route ran between Trieste, Ljubljana and Croatia. The place is first mentioned in church records in 1145; it received market-town rights in the 14thcentury. In the surroundings of Litija there were deposits of various minerals (mercury, lead, copper, zinc, iron, barite, etc.); old mining sites and material remains of the culture of that time testify that mining was developed here as early as the time of the Illyrians, the Celts and the Romans. The core of old Litija is still partly preserved; among the oldest and most notable buildings in the old part of the town are Turn Castle or Farbar's Castle, the old Litija courthouse, where nowadays there is a primary school, Plečnik's National Liberation Struggle monument, the parish church of St Nicholas or rather St Miklavž, which has however been renovated in recent years, while among the finer buildings in the town certainly belong also the renovated Dr Slavko Grum central library, once the seat of the district governorship, and the new Grammar School in Litija. Among the best-known excursion places in the municipality of Litija, as well as in the wider region, are Vače, known for the Vače situla and other archaeological finds from the period of the 5th and 6thcent.BC and for the GEOSS–the geometrical centre of Slovenia. The varied landscape also offers numerous possibilities for excursions and recreation; the entire area is criss-crossed with cycling and walking routes and tourist farms.

Kresnice is a beautiful place in the very centre of Slovenia. It lies on the right bank of the Sava and the first mention of the place goes back to the distant year 1261 as villa Grafnitz. The place began to develop faster when in 1929 Gvido Birolla set up a lime works, in which the residents of Kresnice, Kresniški vrh and other places in the surroundings earned and still earn their bread. Kresnice is a suitable starting point for pleasant outings into nature and to the surrounding tourist points such as Slivna, Sveti Miklavž, Vače, Kresniški vrh, Golišče and Janče.
