The settlement of Dramlje lies 7 km north of Šentjur along the Celje- Maribor motorway. The first owners of this area were the monks of the Žiče Charterhouse, who had fishponds along the Dramlje valleys, while in the 14th c. the Counts of Celje ruled here. Because of the unspoilt nature, and above all because of the wine-growing slopes, the place is an attractive excursion point. Worth seeing is the pilgrimage church of St Ursula, beside which there is also a mountain post. On an organised walk with the local mountaineering society you can set off on the second Saturday in February, and on Statehood Day along part of the Slomšek Trail.
Ponikva is a settlement in the municipality of Šentjur. In recent years Ponikva has been known to many as the birthplace of Anton Martin Slomšek. To some it is also known as the village with the beautiful church of St Martin. At the homestead of the well-known Slovene Anton Martin Slomšek a museum has today been arranged.
Only a few kilometres from the Celje – Rogaška Slatina road lies Sladka Gora. Hidden in the shelter of Dolga gora, it does not actually stand on the top of the hill, but on a gentle level ground at the foot. The pleasant little village in a sunny position is dominated by the varied architecture of the parish and pilgrimage church of Mary with two bell towers. Sladka Gora is an always visited pilgrimage site, since it lies not far from tourist and pilgrimage places. It could actually be placed in a pilgrimage transversal, where nearby pilgrimage sites already are: Mary in Ljubično, St Roch in Šmarje, Mary on Tinjska Gora, in Kalobje…
Žiče Charterhouse is the name of the Carthusian monastery in the valley of St John the Baptist near Žiče in the municipality of Slovenske Konjice. The charterhouse came into being in the years 1155-1165, when its founding charter was drawn up. The founders were the Styrian margrave Ottokar III and his son Ottokar IV of the Traungau line. The monastery is also known for the fact that the oldest pharmacy in Slovenia operated within its complex. Today the charterhouse is regarded as a tourist and cultural-historical attraction, visited annually by around 20,000 visitors. At the entrance stands Gastuž, the oldest inn in Slovenia (since 1467), which also keeps medieval cookery recipes in its collection. In summertime various musical events take place on the monastery grounds, among which the most resonant are the concerts within the framework of the Summer Musical Evenings at Žiče Charterhouse.
