By the karst springs in the settlement of Bistra, sheltered by greenery, Bistra monastery found its place.
The present buildings of the castle complex bear traces of various stylistic periods, from the medieval to the late Baroque. Part of the Gothic cloister with ribbed arches has been preserved, one of the wings beside the courtyard has an arcaded walkway, and the appearance of the castle is completed by a Baroque chapel and a Rococo portal.
In Bistra the collections of the Technical Museum of Slovenia are on display today, namely the forestry, woodworking, hunting, fishing, textile, agricultural, transport and machinery collections.
