The village of Šinkov Turn is first mentioned in 1353. in this village stands the church of the Mother of God, first mentioned in the 16th century, which stands at a viewpoint in the western part of the village.

The plague shrine between Skaručna and Povodje is most probably from the year 1668. The whole shrine is of sandstone. On a round base stands a round pillar, which carries a four-cornered little chapel with semicircular openings, in which there are traces of paintings. The little chapel has a low pyramidal roof and on it a massive double cross. Sources state that there are very few shrines as interesting as this one. The church of St Lucy at Skaručna was built between the years 1662 and 1665. In 1744 it was newly built in the Baroque style. In 1748 the church was painted by France Jelovšek. In this church, among the priests, was also an uncle of France Prešeren.

The place of Vodice is mentioned as early as the 13th century. The parish church of St Margaret is from the y. 1118. In a document dated 16 December 1257 the church of St Margaret is mentioned as the Vodice parish. In 1913 Vodice was famous far and wide because of Johanca of Vodice and her miracles. People made pilgrimages to Vodice in droves. After the unmasking of the miracle Johanca became the victim of much mockery. Vodice is also known for the pretzels which at Jagodic they have been baking since 1932.

The parish church of St Nicholas in Zapoge was built in 1739. The main altar was made in 1845 by Matej Tomc.

The filial church of St James in Hraše is first mentioned in the y. 1118, when it obtains baptismal and burial rights. The main altar from 1647 is made in the Baroque style. In the middle is a sculpture of St James, at the sides St Ulrich and St Nicholas and on the beam St Lucy and St Barbara. The marsh in Hraše spreads on the western side of the village and measures around five hectares. It is made up of two pools, which a path divides. It is a unique biotope, which gives shelter to numerous birds, among them also endangered species. In the pool the tufted duck, the little grebe, the mallard, the lapwing, the marsh warbler, the little bittern and the swan nest, while occasionally the shoveler, the teal and the garganey also stay there.

The Calvary on the hill below the old Smlednik Old Castle, with fourteen chapels of the Stations of the Cross and three crosses at the top, is an architectural speciality of its own kind. It was built at the order of the Smlednik lord of the manor, Baron Franc Smledniški, in 1772. The Calvary is one of the most beautiful architectural Baroque creations of its kind in Slovenia and we hope that as such it will serve sacral purposes and beautify the cultural and tourist image of the places below the Old Castle.

The church of St Walburga is a Baroque church from the second half of the 18th century in the immediate neighbourhood of the Lazarini manor it was built on the site of an older church. In it there are two exceptionally high-quality paintings by Leopold Layer on the Passion of Christ. The Bloody Shrine in the field below the church of St Walburga is a shrine with a picture of the Virgin, which was painted in 2001 by the same painter who painted the Calvary. Here was the provincial prince's place of execution, which is why the local people to this day call it by this, for present times rather unusual, name. The parish church of St Ulrich is one of the largest churches in Slovenia, which is at the same time one of the youngest. They began to build it in 1847 and finished in 1851. It is built on the site of an older Gothic church in the then modern Neo-Romanesque style. In it there are paintings by the Viennese painters Tunner and Kupperweiser and by the local Šubic. The chapel of St Ulrich – A Baroque shrine stands in the immediate vicinity of the parish church and is, besides its lightly shaped exterior, characteristic for the large statue of St Ulrich and for the frescoes which Layer's pupils painted.
